2015 has been a busy year for soul intent. relocating from nottingham to bromley, releasing -the fruit club ep- on lossless in march, his -wanna fight ep- dropped on klute s commercial suicide in august, the sci-fi themed -replicant- marked lossless music s first digital only release in october and his -late night sleaze ep- has been awarded mixmag s dnb tune of the month (nov 15 issue). on top of all this alex is about to launch two (yes two!!) sub-labels for lossless music. the first of these is exkursions. exkursions will cater for the deeper, more experimental side of dnb & electronic music. though concentrating it s tempo focus around the 170 mark exkursions will also be taking explorations down into slower soundscapes. the first release is a 3 tracker from soul intent and the tracks have already turned the heads of respected selectors including doc scott, presha, loxy and logistics. we won t say much for than that, we ll let the music do the talking.

after a slew of solo releases and a few comps, marshall applewhite has teamed up with fellow detroit native kero to put together a 4 track collaborative effort that explores both the new sludge phenomenon and the more classic detroit techno/electro sound. within 4 songs the two have covered a wide base of musical information. comprised of 2 parts modular gear, 2 parts homemade reaktor patchwork, and 1 part raw machine funk, sewer tracks gives a good representation of each players musical aptitude.

the last few years has seen parris make a name for himself across a number of scenes, to the extent he is just as likely to be found spinning records for butterz as he is putting records out on berceuse heroique. here at idle hands we first touched base with parris many moons ago when he bought copies of the first release on his soundman chronicles label into our shop. as it is one of our favourite labels we were intrigued to hear what he would come up with as producer himself. needless to say we were impressed. presented here are two tracks that perfectly reflect his sound and our own a nod to techno here, a weighty bass line there, a love of reverb everywhere and all with a view to being played in dark rooms late at night. the 12 inch of burr and blue is idle hands last release of 2015 and we think it rounds off nicely what has been a great year for the label.

the first release of new label florklang is a split ep, created by a japanese and an european producers who are actively outstanding from last couples years. this ep contains two tracks. one is by japanese artist humandrone who creates acid sounds with rich in originality that has been released by european label such as snuff trax, burek and more. this time from florklang presents (rizing field) by humandrone recorded one and only sounds of analogue synthesizer that attached importance to raw sounds. literally it had been recorded only once. other one is by walrus who is founder of electric music project bepotel producer based in brussels. in florklangs first ep presents a another deep and smooth track called (silver gifts) by walrus which inspired by house sound like larry heard and krautrock. florklang thanks to announce this exquisite release and also this could not be realized without the friendship between japan and belgium.

william thurman aka royer follows up two astounding releases for material image with a deep, curdling ep of wandering house for lobster theremin. picking up where his last excursions left off, collectively finds royer on typically dreamy form, taking micro-thought experiments and carving them into evolving, metamorphic journeys that capture as much the ambience of late night paris as the spirit of us house music. to even the balance, german newcomer trp fires up the cannons for a tough, bouncing remix on the b2. crackling and chugging with dust-coated drums and pads, this is a serious floor-banging rework right here. original artwork comes from royer himself, with full artwork matte sleeve, warm red centre labels and a mind-bending b&w a4 insert.

resopal retrieves two more smoldering remix cuts on transparent vinyl. safe to say that both of them - the a side by heidelberg s casio casino (aka steffen neuert of bergheim 34 ) together with lopazz - and the stunning b-side by our marseille connection roar - are absolute stompers. what we have here are two finely crafted remix versions of the original that seduce the dance floor in totally different ways. both contain perfectly structured arrangements that creep up on you with the stealth of a ninja, making them a real pleasure to mix with. the heidelberg guys show a minimal disco hybrid version of the original. from the moment the bassline emerges from a dense thicket of white noise the pair make their intentions clear. with expertly-crafted sequences punctuated by dramatic crescendos and distinctive mood changes their re-work is a melting pot of styles and influences that somehow manage to coexist, creating a rich montage of sounds and textures. on the b - french duo roar deliver hallucinogenic, long, patient grooves followed by some fantastically understated sonic tweaking which gives the track a real kick without ever losing that empty, laid back vibe.

lanthan.audio kicked off 2016 with its third release. label owner, christian gerlach, has already delivered two powerful punches of conceptual techno by artists like edit select and deepbass. this time the south african born, new york based producer the echologist has been chosen to lead the five track ep. echologist, also known as brendon moeller, has always demonstrated his passion for hypnotic synths with intense smoky atmospheres. he delivers two original tracks that have then been remixed by a familiar name to the label, deepbass, as well as the talented antonio ruscito. with the original cuts you can expect a trippy journey into metallic loops on a spatial environment of solid beats. the deepbass remix offers another version of the hypnotic process in ‘dead men tell no tales’ in a more powerful manner. on the flipside, the italian, antonio ruscito delivers two other interpretations of the original track through different paths. the b2 serves us a proper banging synthetic vibe and the last bonus track, which is digital only, is the final trip to an hypnotic and cloudy deepspace. with this package lanthan.audio continues showing interest on a structural sound with that artistic touch of architecture. expect to see some more new constructions of they’re new building.

brstl returns with two house cuts from jay l, his second release for the label. started in 2011 as a means to highlight house and techno being produced in bristol, the label watched over by shanti celeste and idle hand’s chris farrell is now into double figures.show me on the a-side is a finely constructed piece of house music aimed at djs and dancers. anyone who saw jays recent boiler room debut will know his musical style, steeped in classic us house, soul and boogie but with a tastefully bumpy uk edge. the b-side blue age is a deeper cut living up to its title, all wistfull piano keys and a subdued bass line. this is jay l and brstl doing what they do best, sending vibes from bristol to the world.

karlsruhe based dj/producer roman muhlschlegel dropped his first musical gems back in 2008. inspired by disco and funk and working from an analogue-heavy studio, the german turns out smooth, deep and groovy house with touch of elegance and slice of grit. for his petra digital/vinyl debut the soul estate label boss has crafted two fresh and original gems in sweet but stinky and hot tea with sugar, both of which are backed by remixes. fellow german peter clamat gets to grips with the opening number whilst amsterdams nachtbraker reworks the title track.

lumieux is from bucharest, ro and got in contact with electronic music at an early age (14 years) when he decided to continue with this style of music. for four years he experienced several genres of electronic music: techno, dnb, deep house, tech house and something uncommon genres: experimental, house, industrial etc. finally he decided to combine two genres of electronic music: house and techno.

with schmerz, the berlin-based artist collective dotwav serves up two slamming weapons. techno heavyweights charlton and martyn hare complete the second release on konflkt with two banging remixes.

as he keeps busy on d edge s new sub label olga with a brand new artist album, boss man renato ratier also manages to serve up a hot new ep on the main label with dynamic regard stimming. the pair cook up two fine tracks that showcase both of their styles in all their glory. philosophy goes first and is a playful, loose limbed dance floor groover with parping blasts of sub bass, richly soulful pads and slow burning sense of crescendo that will really lift dancers up and carry them away. it is perfectly detailed and expertly produced to really jump out of the speakers and is sure to be a massive hit this summer in brazil and beyond. conscious then flips the script and slows to a perfectly seductive crawl. lazy drums, slow blasts of white noise and a poignant bassline all get backed by glowing pads and the overall effect is soothing, seductive and sensual. this is a fine ep from two very talented producers and cements a long standing relationship in style.

audiothentica is back in the game after two years of recovering. with a techy and special 4-track ep by lukas&merlin, a dj-fusion outta gelnhausen, near frankfurt. they started at the age of 17 in the attic of an abandoned neighboring house, trying out ableton and midi-keyboards. now they find there output on audiothentica with remixes by sven kerkhoff and frank leicher, which we not have to appoint more. we are very happy about that release and waive the description. all we have to say is that you ll find a wide range of electronic music broaded an intro-, warm-up-, peaktime- and afterhour-track. just have a listen, hope you enjoy.

winter is coming! the soundtrack for game of thrones is scored by german composer ramin djawadi, best known for his grammy-nominated score for iron man, pacific rim, clash of the titans and for the tv series prison break. the fourth season soundtrack also features a single *the rains of castamere* by icelandic post-rock band sigur rós.

its been two years since tagwell woods first appeared on w.t. records. his rich and refreshingly unique techno style caught the ears of the faithful. finally, finally, the londoner is back on vinyl with six pieces of his original brand of machine music. and the wait is worth it.

this release was born of a cross country trip with an 808 drum machine by thomas ragsdale aka winter son, alongside jozef k, resident of famed manchester and ibiza clubnight sankey, as they join perseus traxx to hammer electricity out of machines. with it&#700,,,s rim shots and claps and other transistor rhythms reverberating across vast distances of space, side a is stripped back and deep from the outset, pushing forward as scattered tones, arpeggiations and disjointed voices leave their trails vanishing from perception. side b tightens up from the previous reverbs and throws acid into the mix, as the two join perseus traxx and the sound becomes more raw and urgent as the three of them jam on their chosen machines.

watch your step and follow up closely: jascha hagen is ahead to take us back on the railroad tracks to a different time. from beam to beam and foot by foot this soundtrack of long gone adventures paints vivid memories in modern colors. jascha knows his craft and how to combine past and present like few others. the result is a lovely luettje two-track ep with a distinct atmosphere driven by lush beats.

reset robot has given us two tracks that are absolutely on fire. rebellion is a slow burning, after-hours groover that packs a punch and harnesses percussion elements to the full effect. the hanging gardens of babylon is a lot more of a melancholic offering and leads into a beautiful crescendo to finish any night off in style.

figure 73 introduces a new face to the family - manchester-bread and now berlin-based setaoc mass. after recently launching his own imprint sk_eleven and putting out several releases that already tread in figures lineage of modern, high-precision techno, the label is thrilled to get this promising new artist on board. the five-tracker shows setaoc mass at his most versatile yet and clearly displays the producers talent for constructing both strong atmosphere as well as sheer dance-floor effectiveness.

fructose was part of the styles of the abstract ep released back in 96 on dj hyperactives contact label. diod a.k.a kikoman is a michigan veteran and techno pioneer. fructose proves that he was ahead of its time. featuring two remixes from delaze.

close to the days of the days, when the maya calendar will come to an end and somthing special is waiting for human beeing, two smart fellas from berlin are contrebuting this happening with the so called popocatepetl ep. popocatepetl is a yet sleeping massive vulcano in mexico, who just recently rumbled to life. it looks like this ep will come up with the same energy and power. four tracks with many statements and diversity and still homogeneous in their substance. to find an own style and esspecialy an own sound is what the two try to push to the fore. if we compare this release to their last successful released track on tonkind schmalwild, we hear this major line, where a transperent empathy is to find. kotelett & zadak, showing on this ep their ability to creat dance music with a certain flow and groove which makes you feel aloof and hot but still laid-back and relaxed. it just shows their own temper and shows us why, this two guys are one of the most beloved djs in berlins underground scene. its their personal spirit what comes up in the music, that makes this release sound so authentic. hopefully people will notice, yet even without any dramatic fireworks, popo has the power to wreak havoc.

two of paris’ most respected artists get together for their second collaborative extended player this year. dan ghenacia and chris carrier have been entrenched in the electronic scene in their hometown for a long while now, both men building a strong rep through consistently great music and dj performances. earlier this year they joined forces on ‘just a sin’, released via carrier’s adult only label, now they’re back with the follow-up on apollonia. across three deadly tracks, the duo explore their love of music making machines to the fullest – each track taking its name from ‘sweet heart’, translated into different languages. ‘schatzi’ works off a modular synth, bursting out of the blocks with a wobbly bassline which supports a range of subtle effects together with infrequent vocal clips. as the track progresses warm rising pads and female vocal snippets create an entrancing atmosphere. next up we get an arabian twist with ‘habibi’. a pervading air of mystery presents itself right from the off, with warped voices lurking in the background as the rhythm lures you into its murky groove. as the track progresses more eerie pads and effects are layered over the stepping bassline giving it a very creepy feel. finally, french vibes comes through with ‘cherie’ on side b. the track draws its energy from the busy, though crisp, percussive elements and a b-line that groans in unison with the beats. a simple chime remains present throughout, keeping it minimal yet interesting.

in 2015, two remixers on their respective thrones in techno and house were contacted to rework the classic. matador and shiba san both delivered compelling renditions that capture the original s darkness, paired with their unique styles of delivery.

we are extremely excited about this new release, wich sets the return of lars bartkuhn to dance oriented projects. the needs label founder and author of some many classics like * world*, * walking through circles* under his passion dance orchestra or masterpieces like ‘midnight ceremony’ with his brother marek as bobjazz, joins neroli with a lush and joyful ep aptly titled * music for the golden age*. lars here offers the musical and deeply evocative journey golden age in two versions that have great long building qualities and the subtle groovy ‘daybreak contemplation’. lars is equally experienced in the production/programming field as in being a bandleader and composer. the exquisite trademark balance between the organic and more driving electronic elements is evident throughout the whole ep and delivers a breathtaking and delicate musical insight into lars artistically unique language. a perfect addition to nerolis catalogue.

can t joke with dexy is the opener here and is a bumpy, edgy house cut with tense and nervy keys jangling above a roughshod drum line. it grows ever more dark and comic and things roll on before faith is a more breezy, airy house groove. the drums here dance a nimble dance, thin synths and emotive chords all come in rich layers and a lo-fi percussive line proves how frey can conjure up idiosyncratic sounds with ease. like its title suggest, ghosts is a hauntingly atmospheric track with icy hi hats, pixel thing and hugely melancholic chords and harmonic bells all adding a sense of calm and serenity to turbulent drums deep down below. lastly, scale is a sub 100bpm crawler with fat elastic synths strung up between lazy kicks. two filtered spoken word lines add plenty of weirdness to this soupy bit of cosmic seduction and round out an ep that is stuffed with fresh ideas and great sonic invention.

delsin present a new ep by b12 aka steve rutter entitled orbiting souls, a name which comes from the fact the veteran artist has recently spent contemplating the loss of a friend and believes we are surrounded by lost souls and spirits. this is b12 s second ep this year following on from the bokide 325 release on soma records and comes years after still acclaimed album like electro-soma and timetourist on warp records back in the 90s. orbiting souls is a somewhat complex journey, a representation of inner bi polar opposites, isolation, sadness, but also acknowledging the great and wonderful things around that swirl and support and energise us. a perfectly formed sound world that is both absorbing and cerebral and comes with a full colour sleeve by boris tellegen.

jean nipon most recently known for his standout productions on parisien label clekclek boom joins the l.i.e.s. stable with a new three track ep. the a-side sees nipon go straight for the throat with a chicago-esce muted-synth beating drum track, not unlike early poindexter or ricky smith productions- it is effective, dj ready, and geared for the club. the two track b-side takes a more mellow and dusty approach- without losing his sense of rhythm engaging drum programming push along tape warbled melodies as the tracks expand and release, balancing out and letting this ep breathe perfectly.

the first prodigal son release features a newcomer from france, known by the name exal. he is a resident dj for blocaus in paris often held at la machine du moulin rouge. his first ever record is sure to make an impact with two excellent originals already proven to do damage to dance floors with good results and they are backed up by two stunning remixers on the flip side. inigo kennedy and hector oaks both put their own uniquely epic spin on exals original tracks. the vinyl has been mastered by matt colton at alchemy studios here in london and the artwork story begins with our guy sariel keslasi from tel aviv.
